At Lnee Research & Development, we celebrate diversity and accessibility. This week is Deaf Awareness Month (September 20-26, 2020). We want to celebrate this week by featuring a leading in the world of academia.
Dr. Carolyn McCaskill

Gallaudet Arts & Humanities Professor/Founding Director
After graduating from the Alabama School for the Deaf, Dr. Carolyn McCaskill went on to earn her MA degree in Counseling of the Deaf at Gallaudet University. She became the second Deaf Black woman to earn a Ph.D from Gallaudet. The Washington Post considers her one of the strongest Deaf Studies scholars in the country. Her work on race in ASL is fascinating.
Last year, she received a prestigious 35-year service award from Gallaudet for her commitment to scholarship and dedication to advocacy for the Deaf community.
Do you need help ensuring that your business is accessible? To get started, make sure your business is accessible by providing screen-reader friendly content, subtitles on video content, and image descriptions as alt text. Best practice dictates that we consult with individuals from the community you want to support. If you do lean of the expertise of a Deaf professional for accessibility strategies, be sure to compensate them appropriately for their time!
